Morning Star families focus on Jesus in many ways during the Christmas season. Read here to learn about a few of them. May their celebrations inspire yours!
Choose a book (We like Jotham’s Journey by Arnold Ytreeide or Unwrapping the Greatest Gift by Ann Voskamp.) Spend time each day talking about Jesus’ coming as a family. You may also choose to read Scripture as you light Advent candles — a special remembrance.
For ready-made ideas, check out charities gifting children this holiday season, like Operation Christmas Child or the Angel Tree Project. Agencies, like Job and Family Services, connect you with local families in need of Christmas meals and gifts.
Model a spirit of gratitude and extend Jesus’ love. Gather them family in the kitchen and bake cookies (or another family favorite). Then deliver these homemade treats to local emergency personnel. Delivering on Christmas day makes the gesture especially sweet.
Not everyone celebrates a merry Christmas with family and friends. Invite someone who spends the holiday alone to your home. Or take a meal or cookie decorating supplies and spend an afternoon at their place.
Plenty of charity happens before Christmas day hits. Unfortunately, the days after get lonely for some. Hope fades as the world gets back to the day-to-day routines. As a family, make a plan for bringing Jesus to others throughout the year. Then, do it!
